Jamaica's Production Incentive Framework

The Government of Jamaica has established significant financial incentives to attract international productions — making Jamaica one of the most competitive production destinations in the Caribbean.

Cash Rebate

20%

Up to 20% cash rebate on qualifying local production spend for international features through the Jamaica Screen Development Initiative (JSDI). Returned within 5 months of final audit submission. ACS Film Company handles the application process.

Duty-Free Equipment Import

PIR

Productive Input Relief (PIR) allows the duty-free importation of equipment for international productions filming in Jamaica. This significantly reduces the cost of bringing specialist equipment to the island.

Co-Production Treaties

UK · CA

An active co-production treaty exists between Jamaica and the United Kingdom. Canada treaty negotiations are currently ongoing. These treaties allow co-productions to access funding from both countries' film agencies simultaneously.

No Work Permits Under 30 Days

Production crew members working in Jamaica for fewer than 30 days require no work permit. This makes short-schedule productions significantly easier to bring to the island without complex visa or permit processes.

$1 Billion Film Fund

JSDI

The Jamaica Screen Development Initiative has JMD $1 billion (USD ~$6.5M) available for eligible productions across development, production, completion, film festival attendance and marketing and distribution support.
